China Girl II - Before & After

The old sail is original, here more than twenty years old...

The old jam cleats were still in good condition...

The original sheeting arrangements. The fixed sheet position is too far to port...

All the controls were led aft from the mast through cheek blocks...

The new sail bundle arrives on board.

Jointed battens prove to be a vast improvement over 1½" white plastic pipe.

The boom and battens are fendered with plastic casings...

The ropes now run though this collection of blocks as they come off the mast...

All controls now run through Barton clutches...

Upper and lower luff parrels are in polyethylene rope...

The two speed sheet block is mounted on a horse...

This was the first time the new sail was raised.

The port side of the sail shows the keep battens

Unlike the previous rig where the top batten was not sheeted...
